Down The track

Two years later I pulled the garments out, cut them up and made some table runners/wall hangings for my siblings as a keepsake. They were made using raw edge applique and then simply quilted with straight lines. My mother was a champion badminton player in her day, hence the shuttlecocks on the back of this one. It was nice to see mum's tops and dresses sitting happily next to dad's shirts and pyjamas."

"Dearest Jill,
I am writing to you to thank you so much for your time and beautiful work you put into making my quilt. I really appreciate your kindness. You brought happiness to me and I can imagine my mum and dad smiling down too. Thank you again. Love Margaret"
"Dear Jill,
Thank you so much for your beautiful gift of a quilt made from jumpers my mother knitted. It is quite wonderful. My mother who died in 2005 at 103, was a lifelong knitter, crochetter, and tapestry maker. She would have loved the way you have re-made the jumpers into such a lovely item. You have created something that will be treasured in my family for a very long time...."
